Why Sunscrapers became Vecten, and what we believe comes next.

Last year, the software development world shifted. The models released in Q4 2025 changed the trajectory of this industry, and of many others, for good. Having spent fifteen years in fullstack web development and data engineering, we knew the time had come to adjust.
We took that moment as an opportunity to rethink everything: our identity, the value we bring to clients through our services, and the way we ourselves work every day. When AI accelerates productivity and access to intelligence to levels nobody has seen before, staying indifferent is not a strategy.
Luckily for us, we were in a good spot.
Over the past years we built a portfolio of clients who were not only dominant in their fields, but thinking hard about the future: leading VC funds and their scaleups, some of the largest PE firms and their portfolio companies. That had two implications for us.
First, we worked with the best. Clients who spend real time thinking about what's coming, who are willing to invest in, and sometimes bet on, the edge. Clients at the forefront of change.
Second, we were already doing the work this new era demands. We built data foundations for them: pipelines, warehouses, analytics. And we experimented with AI from its earliest days, testing models, automating workflows, building custom solutions long before it was fashionable. We didn't have to catch up. We were watching it happen from the inside, prepared and experienced.
Internally, the last few years were a time of maturing. We grew from a boutique digital agency founded by two students into an enterprise-grade delivery partner: an official partner of AWS, Snowflake, and dbt, SOC 2 Type I and HIPAA certified. That made the picture complete.
The need for a new beginning, one that would summarize what we've built and drive us forward refreshed, had been growing in us for some time. The AI revolution made the timing perfect.
In 2026 we rebranded from Sunscrapers to Vecten. From a boutique web dev shop that started in a garage (yes, an actual garage) to an AI-first technology partner for forward-thinking innovators.
Vecten is built from vector and tension: direction, motion, and sharpness. It captures our evolution and our vision. We sit between two eras, helping clients set up the foundations they need while transforming the way they do business and their relationship with technology. And there is a note of tension, of shift, in the name on purpose. Change of this kind is rarely comfortable. It is always necessary for growth.
A new name changes nothing on its own, so we started with how we work.
We shifted from human-first to human-supervised engineering. Our engineers no longer write every line by hand; they design, direct, and review AI-generated solutions. Meetings turn into tracked, context-rich tasks automatically. AI drafts implementations, engineers approve them. Releases, reports, and error diagnosis run through automated pipelines with humans at the decision points.
The results speak clearly. On one of our long-running engagements, a PE-backed healthcare platform, a six-person team became two and a half, while output grew. Roughly eight manual steps per task became three human touchpoints. Features that took five days ship in one. Taken together, that's close to a 4x jump in engineering productivity. Same clients, same codebase, a fundamentally different way of working.
We didn't run this transformation on a client first. We ran it on ourselves. Every framework we now bring to the market has been tested inside our own company. That is the difference between a thesis and a track record.
With the new identity came a new suite of services, designed for companies undergoing their own AI transformation.
Vecten Core is our flagship: the data foundation every company needs before AI can deliver on its promise. Core connects the systems you already run into a single source of truth, a governed warehouse deployed in your own cloud, with dashboards for people and MCP access for AI assistants and agents on top. You own the data and the infrastructure; we operate the engine. Set up in weeks, not the six to twelve months of a from-scratch build. Because every report, dashboard, and AI initiative is only as good as the data underneath it, and in most firms that data is fragmented, untrusted, and locked away.
Vecten Compass helps companies structure their AI transformation roadmap, so the effort starts where it matters instead of where the hype points.
Vecten Forge rebuilds legacy systems on AI-native principles, liberating the data and logic trapped inside them.
Vecten Transform brings the AI-native way of working into your organization, workflow by workflow, team by team, the same way we did it in ours.
Vecten Drive is dedicated teams of AI-native engineers working closely with your own people. They embed in your team, identify what needs building, and ship, combining senior human judgment with agentic workflows so the leverage compounds over time.
With this new suite of services, clients we're proud to work with, and best-in-class technology partners at our side, we look at the future genuinely excited about what's possible.
The work continues. The name finally fits.
